About the site
This site is primarily here for me to post information about the various free software projects I'm working on and make files available. The other stuff on here is just random; some of it is information that might be useful to other people and the rest is just....well....random.
The site is coded in PHP, using my preferred web development environment. All code is 100% standards compliant XHTML 1.0 Strict.

Valid XHTML 1.0

The site has a MySQL database backend and is formatted with Cascading Style Sheets. Some areas of this site are protected from e-mail harvesters and comment spammers using Http:BL from Project Honeypot. If your IP address is on the blacklist, you may not be able to access my blog or contact details. If you believe you are incorrectly listed, please contact Project Honeypot. The web server is also protected by ModSecurity - if you experience problems, please follow the instructions on the error pages.
For many years this site was coded in HTML, but in late 2005 I decided that most browsers could now cope well enough with XHTML. There is still one notable exception which doesn't support the application/xhtml+xml (or in fact any) MIME type which the W3C specify as the required type for XHTML pages, so I had to fudge it to ensure the browser concerned gets a text/html MIME type instead. As a result, I'm not interested in any bugs my site seems to have when viewed in Microsoft Internet Explorer. Go tell it to Microsoft.
About the blog
My blog is powered by WordPress.
About the server
This site is hosted on a virtual machine from Bytemark. It should therefore be reasonably fast - please let me know if it isn't. Both IPv6 and SSL connectivity is available if desired [switch to SSL].
The VM is, of course, running Debian GNU/Linux.
